POSITION TITLE: Cashier
DEPARTMENT: Accounting, Billing, and Member Service CLASSIFICATION: Non-exemptREPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
POSITION REPORTS TO: Office Services Manager POSITIONS SUPERVISED: None POSITION PURPOSE- To know, understand, support, promote, and contribute to achieving the Cooperative's goal and objectives as established by the plans, policies, and procedures of the Cooperative.
2. To provide prompt and courteous service to the members and the public and promote goodwill between the cooperative and its members.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES 1. Perceive this position as an opportunity through which NEC ultimately meets the needs of the members.- Make sure that the cash drawer is balanced and returned to the vault each day at the close of business.
- Make sure that the cashier area is secure, and the front doors are locked at the end of each workday.
- Must provide prompt and courteous service to members along with being accurate and proficient in handling cash.
- Good organizational skills and a self-directed initiative are essential.
- Prepare daily bank deposits each day.
- Must be able to attain knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions of the industry, capable of working under stressful conditions coupled with the ability to react calmly and quickly in emergencies.
- Serves as backup to MSR.
- Perform other duties as directed or required.
2. Assumes responsibility for maintaining professional and effective internal/external communications and working relationships with NEC members employees, and management. 1. Attends and participates in meetings and training as required. 2. Obtains and conveys information as necessary and/or instructed. 3. Assists co-workers and other NEC departments as needed. 4. Interacts successfully with NEC departments that impact assigned areas of responsibility. 5. You are a representative of the Cooperative and should conduct yourself in a professional manner and present a favorable image for the Cooperative.
6. Must adhere to a team approach and work well with others to maintain the goals and objectives of the Cooperative.
3. Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.
- Works with minimal supervision to stay on task.
- Complies with all applicable regulations as well as NEC's employment and safety/security policies, procedures, rules, and practices.
- Completes special projects as assigned.
- Ensures work area is clean, secure, and well maintained.
PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS 1. Assignments are effectively and efficiently completed and support NEC's goals and objectives. 2. Management is appropriately informed of incidents and/or any significant problems. 3. Duties are completed within requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: High School Diploma EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: A minimum of two years of bank teller experience or other cash handling experience. SKILLS/ABILITIES: 1. Ability to work with confidential information and security of documents 2. Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs: Word, Excel, and Outlook 3. Good research, analytical, and problem-solving skills 4. Excellent oral and written communication to communicate tactfully, appropriately, and courteously with the public, members and employees 5. Well-organized and able to meet deadlines 6. Attentive to detail OTHER: At least 18 years of age General residency requirement SC Driver's License Available for overtime as assigned and/or required
WORKING CONDITIONS N o hazardous or significantly unpleasant conditions. May require additional time before 8:00 am and after 5:00 pm. May be required to work overtime during power outages. Some travel may be required. Physical effort required by the job includes standing for extended periods, walking, stooping, lifting, or carrying weights less than 50 pounds. Must be able to talk and hear or use a prosthesis, which enables hearing without difficulty. Must be physically able to operate a computer, telephone, and other office equipment. Requires manual and detailed handwork using both hands.
